Every year The Charleston Comedy Festival hosts dozens of stand up comics from all around the country to compete for the top prize. Sure they win some cash, but the real prize is the fact that they get their own show during the festival. These three comics are the ones that the judges and the audience voted the best.

Jason Groce
Jason is originally from Greenville, SC and has lived in Charleston for over a decade. Jason got his start doing standup four years ago by hosting a local once a month open mic comedy show that continues to this day. Voted Best Local Comic 2012 by readers of the Charleston City Paper, Jason performs around the Southeast and has performed with such comics as Neal Brennan, Todd Barry, Neil Hamburger, Tig Notaro, Dan Mintz, and Michael Ian Black.
Mixing the mundane and the absurd, Jason talks about relationships, jobs, and entertainment, and his mix of clever one-liners and offbeat topics is a small glimpse into how a strange brain works.

Tim Hoeckel

Tim Hoeckel (pronounced Heckle) was born with a name for or possibly against comedy. Heckle him from the crowd if you want but he’s been getting it since day one, literally. He always strives to find creative ways to make crowds laugh and vows to wow the audience with zingers galore. So come see for yourself!

Lauren Krass
Lauren has been on the Charleston comedy scene just under two years and has already received third place in the Charleston Comedy Festival's Stand Up Competition for 2012 and 2013. Her self-deprecating humor combined with a dash of charm creates a unique perspective which is relevant to any audience. She was recently featured in the Charleston edition of Skirt Magazine where she was highlighted for her comedic performances. Her festival credits include Jailbreak Art Festival 4 and 5, The Annapolis Comedy Festival, and the She Devil Comedy Festival in NYC. She has guested on the popular storytelling series, RISK hosted by Kevin Allison.
